New Les Bl?s de CHANEL Haute Joaillerie collection. Description. Part 2
“Diamonds are my choice because they embody the greatest value in the smallest volume”,- Coco Chanel wrote as long ago as in 1932, when she presented to public her first and only for many years Chanel High Jewellery collection. (Henri Guidel, “Coco Chanel”) In new Les Bl?s de Chanel Haute Joaillerie collection the designers turned the ears of wheat into gorgeous diamond jewellery.
The collection comprises 62 jewellery pieces. It is conventionally divided into four parts, which celebrate the whole life cycle of wheat, from the first stems that sprout from the earth in early spring and out to ripe golden ears, harvested in late summer. “Premiers Brins”, “Brins de Printemps” and “Brins de Diamants” are the jewellery pieces, which celebrate first tender young shoots of wheat. Marquise cut peridots, green tourmalines and aquamarines are used here.
Champ de Bl?, Impression de Bl?, L?gende de Bl? и Bl? Infini tell us the story of the wheat ears, which are already ripening and gaining strength. Therefore, the jewelry is made of yellow gold with sparkling diamonds to match.
Somertimes sunshine plays with the wheat ears. ?pi d’?t?, ?pi Vend?me, ?pi Solaire and L’?pi tell us this story and show how the field is dancing in the breeze like a sparkling sea of gold.
The final part celebrates harvesting of the crop. It comprises F?te des Moissons, Moisson d’Or and Moisson de Perles. White gold is combined with large yellow sapphires of different cuttings along with beads of yellow sapphires, that literary fill the jewellery with some warmth of the sun. Necklaces and bracelets Moisson de Perles, which are made of Japanese and Indonesian pearls, give us reference to the heritage of Gabrielle Chanel. “Moisson d'Or” brooch is my absolute favorite jewellery of the entire collection. Elegant and refined, it is like a diamond portrait of Gabrielle Chanel herself.
Moisson de Perles necklace from Haute Joaillerie Les Bl?s de Chanel collection in 18K white gold set with diamonds and Indonesian cultured pearl and 297 Japanese cultured pearls.
Yellow gems, symbolizing the heat of the midday sun, hold a special place in the collection, like a magnificent yellow 25 carats diamond in F?te des Moissons necklace. This necklace is really the queen of the new collection that caught the fancy of Jewellery Masterpiece online magazine.
We should mention, that it’s not the debut of wheat in Chanel’ history. First one in jewellery, but not in fashion. During Chanel fashion show Spring-Summer 2010 that Karl Lagerfeld scattered bunches of wheat. Golden bunches of wheat, embroidered and dimensional then have appeared on belts, bracelets, headbands, necklaces and blouses. Karl Lagerfeld set the scenery for the defile in Grand Palais, which was the exact copy of farm, up to the granary, bales of hay and floral garlands.
